With 15 in attendance, this event was a wonderfully intimate affair. James Cothran’s lecture was enlightening and inspiring, covering topics such as exotic and ornamental plants, Asian plant species that have become synonymous with the South, and the use of plants for architectural effect. After the lecture, historian Gwen Koehler treated the group to a private tour of the Main House; Ms. Koehler is currently researching the letters and artifacts from the Bulloch Family.

On Saturday, April 18, 2009, seven Young ICA&CA members participated in a Habitat for Humanity build. The construction site was located in southeast Atlanta off of Cleveland Avenue, and when complete will benefit a deserving and hardworking family.
With the walls mostly completed during the previous week, the volunteers were charged with raising the roof and installing windows, trim, and siding, among other tasks. The photo below shows the hardworking crew just after the roof rafters were in place and just before a well deserved lunch break.
